FITC news: Amsterdam Sold Out! & announcing FITC Mobile

Feb 09, 2009

We just closed ticket sales on FITC Amsterdam 2009. This is awesome news given the current economy. Especially considering we added more capacity. It's shaping up to be another really great event and everyone at FITC is really looking forward to it. The vibe in Amsterdam is great and inspiring all on it's own. Throw in the terrific line-up of speakers and you'll be hard-pressed to come away from this and not feel motivated to try something new and great.

We've created a waiting list for tickets in case people back out over the next two weeks.

Something we are even more excited about is the announcement that we are doing FITC Mobile in the Fall. This is a new event for us and will actually be our first event that is entirely developer oriented. We've seen a large up take of interest in iPhone development within our existing community. Keith Peters and Toronto's own James Eberhardt are both on the iDev 360 speaker lineup already. Mike Downey, former Flash evangalist at Adobe, has been doing lots of investigation into this as well. Throw on top of that the emerging Google Android OS or the soon to be released Palm Pre and it's WEB OS apps that are largely HTML/Javascript based and we suddenly have this whole ecosystem of mobile application development that Actionscript and web developers can get into. Of course there's also the well established Blackberry OS and Windows Mobile, both of which have plans to release application stores.

When we started looking at this it just all made sense. There are lots of other events covering the business side of this world and even the design/UI side of things. But we felt that the developers are missing out. Particularly those developers looking to broaden their skillsets into other markets. With the high interest in these new emerging platforms we want to help by bringing together in one place all the people that can help you get started. At a time when everyone's budgets are tight and people are worried about job security or finding the next contract, having the knowledge to say you can do mobile development is one more advantage to help you through. You'll also see from the prices that we are trying really hard to make this accessible to as many people as possible.

We are looking for speakers and would love to hear your feedback on this as well.
